Research on the Nursing Students´s Motivation and Change in Satisfaction Score of Majoring in Nursing

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was done with 130 students of nursing department, college of medicine Pusan National University (Sophomores 51, Juniors 40, and Seniors 39) in 1983 to know their motivation and satisfaction score of majoring in nursing. Satisfaction score was measured at their entrance (before they learned major subjects) and after they had learned major subjects for more than one term.
The change in their satisfaction score was analized according to their grade and the results are as. follows:
1. The average satisfaction score was 3.92 before learning major subjects and 3.61 after learning major subjects, so there was a significant decrease in the satisfaction score after learning major subjects. (P<0. 01) The amount of drcrease was larger in sophomores and juniors whcse average satisfaction score before learning major subjects was relatively higher then that in seniors.
2. As to the change in their satisfaction score, 58.46% of all showed negative change. However in the view of their grade, sophomores showed negative change in 72.55%, Juniors in 65.0%, and seniors in 13.33%. Thus there was a significantly higher rate of negative change in the lower grade students. (P<0.001)
